Prison Statistics – An Annual Publication  
 

The first issue of the report pertains to the year 1995.  The latest issue of Prison Statistics India pertains to the year 2007. The report contains national level statistics of Prison Institutions of the country.  Besides the types of prisons, the report contains statistics of different type of prisoners namely, convicts, under trials and detenus.  The report also contains the age group-wise distribution of prisoners, Foreign convicts and undertrials, demographic particulars of inmates, crime head-wise distribution of convicts and undertrials kept in prisons etc.  It also  contains the various vocational training given to prisoners, the staff strength in prisons, various refresher and reorientation courses given to staff of prisons and the budgetary details of prisons.
