Crime Criminal Information System (CCIS) software is being used at NCRB for extracting data pertaining to Crime & Criminal and Property as received from SCRBx and generating various reports. Used by CBI to ascertain the criminal antecedents of arrested/wanted persons. Started since 1994, Database has 4,33,78,448 (approx.) records as on 31/12/2016. Almost all the states have stopped reporting information on crime and criminals through CCIS software except A&N Islands. The data is now being captured through CAS(Common Application Software) under CCTNS project. It has replaced CCIS.

An online Motor Vehicle Coordination system, ôVahan Samanvay" is designed for coordination of stolen and recovered motor vehicles. Police, Regional Transport Offices and Insurance Sector are the stakeholders of this system. A motor vehicle enquiry counter for the convenience of the general public is operational at NCRB at New Delhi. Many State/UT police organizations are also operating motor vehicle enquiry counters in their respective States/UTs for the convenience of general public. Portrait Building System (PBS) help to extract Face components like Head, Eye, Nose, Mouth, Chin etc., described by witness similar to criminal, from the digitized portraits directory and assemble these components to construct face image of accused. By using PBS, NCRB has been assisting the Investigating Officers of States/UTs Police, CBI and other police agencies by preparing the Portraits of the accused based on the account given by the eyewitnesses. The application is designed to run under Windows 9X/XP/NT/2K Operating System.

The Central Finger Print Bureau, better known by the acronym CFPB among the law enforcement agencies of the country, came into existence in the year 1955. It fulfilled a long cherished requirement of law enforcement agencies throughout the country as a nodal agency to effectively deal in Inter-State nature of Criminal enquiries by tracing/locating Inter-State criminals, and, Standardization, Modernization and Coordination of Fingerprint Bureaux. A need was felt to computerise finger print records at State and National headquarters for effective maintenance of records and coordinating Crime of inter-state and inter-national criminals.

NCRB has created a National level database and developed & deployed Web-enabled software for online recording and reporting of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) Seizures made by State/UT Police, Investigation Agencies, Intelligence Agencies & CAPF and Detections made by Banks (RBI, Public Sector, Private Sector & Foreign Banks). The link to the system is available below and can be accessed round the clock by Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance and other authorized users. Exclusive training-cum-workshops have been conducted for all stakeholders.

Data on Fire arms and ammunitions is collected from State police for creation of national database on firearms and ammunition. Data is compiled on make-wise fire arms and ammunition of numbered and un-numbered stolen, recovered and seized Fire Arms received from SCRBx for replies to MHA, Parliament Queries and queries raised by other law enforcement agencies.

The new web based TALASH system developed by NCRB replaces the old standalone version and is designed for matching of missing/kidnapped, unidentified persons & dead bodies. The system is operational at NCRB Headquarters.
